Jimmy Carter Chats with Home Run King Hank Aaron at the White House

This photograph of President Jimmy Carter visiting with baseball great Hank Aaron in the Oval Office was taken on August 15, 1978. Four years prior to their meeting, Aaron, then playing for the Atlanta Braves, hit his 715th career home run, breaking Babe Ruth's record. Aaron had hit his 755th and final home run for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1976, the year he retired as an active player.
