On February 14, 1962, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy invited the American public into the White House via a tour broadcast on CBS with correspondent Charles Collingwood. A Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy showcased the First Lady’s groundbreaking restoration of the Executive Mansion. A record 56 million viewers tuned in to see and hear the First Lady guide them through the public rooms of the White House.
