History in the Camera's Eye: Madame Chiang Kai-shek and Eleanor Roosevelt
Madame Chiang Kai-Shek and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt are shown on the White House south lawn February 24, 1943 during the former's visit to the Capitol. The encounter took place during World War II, when the wife of the Chinese generalissimo visited the White House with an entourage of forty servants and aides and remained for nine days.
