The White House Historical Association seeks a part-time field trip educator to assist with student groups at The People’s House: A White House Experience.

The People’s House is a cutting-edge education center that tells the story of the White House, its inhabitants, and the people who have dedicated their careers to its functions. It will feature exhibits and galleries that bring the Executive Mansion and its storied history to life. To learn more about The People’s House, click here.

The part-time educator will develop, test, and facilitate field trips for K-12 school groups and report to the Assistant Director of Student Education within the David M. Rubenstein National Center for White House History. The field trip educator is expected to work collaboratively with other staff members at the Association and The People’s House including the visitor services team.

Duties:

  • Provide a welcoming and positive educational experience for visiting school groups.
  • Facilitate field trips for K-12 audiences.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of programming and activities for K-12 students.
  • Help prepare, organize, and clean materials for programs.

Qualifications:

  • An interest in history and museum education.
  • A completed or in-process undergraduate college degree in a relevant field. Graduate students studying public history, museum studies, or museum education preferred.
  • Comfort speaking and engaging with school-aged audiences.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to walk up and down several flights of stairs during a shift.
  • Experience in the museum education field preferred.

Job Details:

Type: Part-time; Hours will vary based on scheduled field trip requests but will not exceed 16 hours/week.

Compensation: $23.00 hourly, paid bi-weekly

Location: On-site
