Two-year subscriptions to White House History include four issues (one issue every six months). Upcoming topics will include:
President Lincoln’s White House
To mark the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln’s birth, this issue of White House History will bring together new research by Lincoln scholars, historians, and White House curators with a focus on the Lincoln family’s daily life in the White House. Features will include: “Mary Todd Lincoln” by Hal Holzer; “The White House on the Night of Lincoln’s Assassination” by Anthony Pitch • “The Lincoln White House: A Photo Essay” • “The Lincoln Bedroom” • “Music in Lincoln's White House” • “Tad and His Tudor” • and “The Lincoln Household.”
Working at the White House
This issue of White House History provides an inside glimpse into the many aspects of working at the White House. The issue includes a history of the Usher's Office, which oversees the official and domestic household of the presidential family; a view of what it's like to be on staff at the White House by Bradley Patterson; commentary by Priscilla Roosevelt on Belle Hagner's memoirs of her tenure as social secretary to First Lady Edith Roosevelt; and a collection of White House images by photographer Maggie Knauss.
The White House Neighborhood
The neighborhood surrounding the White House is rich with history. This issues explores some the most important landmarks in Washington including St. John's Church, the Andrew Jackson statue in Lafayette Park, Blair House, the Corcoran Mansion (razed in 1922), the Executive Office Buildings, and the President's Park. Also included is an essay on the photography of the late National Geographic photographer Volkmar Wentzel.
